Kid podcasts, parent-curated.

VidCove gives children a shelf of podcasts selected by their parent instead of a discovery feed. The starting catalog contains 20 hand-picked shows for ages 0–12, grouped into ages 0–4, 5–8, and 9–12. Parents add the shows that fit each child, so siblings can have separate libraries that match their ages and interests.

The curated list is only a starting point. Parents can search the PodcastIndex.org catalog or paste an RSS feed URL to add a show that is not already featured. Approval happens at the show level: once a parent adds a show, its episodes are available in that child’s library, and the parent can remove the show if it is no longer a fit.

Podcast listening is excluded from VidCove’s daily video screen-time total. Children can listen during car rides, quiet play, or bedtime without using the video allowance, while listening activity still appears for parents. The weekly digest shows which shows and episodes were played alongside the family’s YouTube and Plex activity.

Episodes remember listening progress and resume near the point where a child stopped. The episode list marks in-progress and completed episodes and can be sorted newest-first or oldest-first, keeping a long-running show manageable without relying on an algorithmic queue.

On the native iOS app, podcasts support background playback, lock-screen and Control Center controls, AirPlay, Chromecast, and offline episode downloads. Web, iPhone, iPad, and Android users can access the same approved show library, with native playback extras depending on the device.

Setup takes three steps: create a VidCove family account, choose shows from the curated list or PodcastIndex search, and add them to a child’s library. The child then opens the Podcasts area next to their other approved content, with no general discovery tab or autoplay rabbit hole.
